Maria was born in New Haven, Connecticut in 1973. She is the daughter of an Italian immigrant. Her father Raffaele was an avid chef in various restaurants in Italy before coming to America in 1970. He continued to share his talents with many guests who dined with him in restaurants he both worked at and owned over the years.

Maria was raised in the family business and her father from a young age instilled the values of hard work and dedication. Her passion for creating exquisite food, along with a caring, loving personality, and her dedication to her passion are the qualities she possesses to ensure each and every guest is treated like family.

Family, being very important to Maria, she instills these same values in her 4 children that her father instilled in her. With this passion she embarked on her own Journey on November 9th, 1994. Gagliardi’s restaurant was opened and as a young adult she grew up with the business raising and teaching her children all the core values that were a staple in her family. All of them could always be seen working in the restaurant at any time. Gagliardi’s was not only her business, it was her home until it’s sale in 2016.

With passion, hard work, and dedication, Maria has begun a new journey in the opening of Ria’s Restaurant and Apizza. She welcomes you with open arms, a big heart, and great food.
